Bathurst Open 2024

The Bathurst Open was held over the weekend of 19th and 20th October and sunny skies greeted all the players, and with packed fields for the two days the Competition it would prove a hotly contested Open.

Round one was dominated by three players with Jayden Every (67) holding a one shot over both Paul Bright from Gold Creek and Martin Hooper from Fox Hills.

The Feature group of four players on Sunday consisted of Jayden Every, Paul Bright, Martin Hooper, and Cooper Giddings.

Reece Hodson and Andrew Best loomed large just outside the top four and so it proved with both players having a stellar Sunday with Reece (68) and Andrew (70), Paul Bright played best from the feature group recording a steady (71) This put both players Reece Hodson (139) and Paul Bright (139) tied after thirty-six holes and a three-hole playoff was required to declare a winner.

The players played 10,11,18 aggregate then sudden death.

The 10th was halved with pars after good up and downs from both players. The 11th proved the pivotal hole with Reece making a nice birdie. The 18th both players smashed their drives long and both had short iron approaches, Paul was first to hit but had a little too much spin and his ball came off the green Reece hit his shot to 10 feet. Paul’s third shot came agonising close to going in, but Reece Hodson calmly two putted for the win.
