Justin Sutton is the Dunwright Matchplay Champion 2019

The two top guns of Bathurst golf Justin Sutton and Reece Hodson battled it out on Sunday for the much coveted Dunwright Matchplay title of 2019, eventually won 2up by Sutton. Each player being tested in previous matches where Justin had to go to 20th to beat Mick Locke and Reece taking till the 19th in the rain to beat Darrell Bourke, the final was a fitting end with both players producing outstanding golf with only a few putts the difference. Both players also were the driving force behind Bathurst winning the 2019 A grade Pennant.

B Grade

Tony Foster Defeated Michael Weekes 6/5  in another outstanding effort by Tony who hasn’t been beaten since the 1st round of this years Pennants campaign. He was pushed all the way by Terry Staines in the semi but proved too strong in the final for Michael, straight hitting and good putting will do that to any player!

B1 Grade

Mark Gunning Defeated Jake Davis, but had a battle on his hands in the first round against Peter Ward, scraping home on the last, he then cruised to the final. Meanwhile Jake caused a bit of an upset by knocking out the much fancied Danny Ross who had beaten Pennants gun Rod Pollard in this years stroke championship. I picked Rod to win this Division, sorry Mark!  Mark made the most of all carnage around the top half of the draw and quietly slipped in to the final were he proved too strong for Jake.

C Grade

Grant Bowman Defeated Rod Graham, with Pennant players being a common theme for all the winners in this years Dunwright Matchplay

Grants a regular for Bathurst Pennants he’s  battle hardened  and wouldn’t be denied in the final cruising through all his Matches to Hold the Trophy aloft at the end, well done to all players all matches, I hear were played in good spirit, so well done
