 In On The Tee

New member Michael Tobin has signed for his first title in relatively quick time after 43pts gave him pole position in Thursday’s B grade stableford event, hot on his heels was his ‘ol’ man Dave with a good but not good enough 39pts! John Stephens rounded out third with 38pts and the scratch has gone the way of Jacob Soetens-Chidiac with 21pts.

Darren Small tamed the beast that is the Bathurst Golf Course and loved every moment of it as attested by his 41pts to win A grade from Chris ‘rocky’ Hadson (40) and Jimmy Smail (39), the gun from Duntry Andy Campbell added another scratch prize to his belt courtesy of 35pts.

The father and son combo of the Tobin’s were unstoppable in the 2BBB thanks to a brilliant 53pts that saw them streets ahead of the runner-up pairing of Chidiac and Harrison Jones. Youth prevailed in the quest for the 2BBB scratch as Ben Mackey and Dylan Thompson returned a six under par score of 42pts.

Saturday’s torrential downpour decimated the field with only 52 hardy souls braving the conditions, in the end Dave Clews picked up the chocolates with 70 nett for a slender shot margin over Sauro Gregori. Top gun Phil Campbell played extremely well to fire 72 off the stick to win the scratch. Mr Clews was also bestowed the honour of winning the Pedro Martins Medal of Medals playoff.

Alex Sparks found form on Sunday with 39pts, his nearest pursuers were Mark Gervasoni and John Payne who both had 38pts.

In the 2BBB brotherly love prevailed as Dom and Ben McCrossin fired 45pts for a single shot margin over Bill Casey and Stuart Brown.
